Google Earth is a free-of-charge, downloadable virtual globe program. It maps the earth by superimposing images obtained from satellite imagery, aerial photography and GIS over a 3D globe.

Microsoft Virtual Earth (Windows Live Local) is a free web map server provided as a part of Microsoft's Windows Live online applications services suite. It offers street maps, satellite imagery, driving directions, and traffic information.

Google Maps is a free web map server application and technology provided by Google that powers many map-based services including Google Maps, Google Ride Finder and embedded maps on third-party websites via the Google Maps API.

Yahoo! Maps is a free online mapping portal provided by the Yahoo! network, based out of Sunnyvale, California.

Open Layers OpenLayers makes it easy to put a dynamic map in any web page. It can display map tiles and markers loaded from any source. MetaCarta developed the initial version of OpenLayers and gave it to the public to further the use of geographic information of all kinds. OpenLayers is completely free, Open Source JavaScript, released under the BSD License.

NASA JPL OnEarth is the home site of the WMS Global Mosaic, a high resolution global image mosaic of the earth, produced from more than 8200 individual Landsat7 scenes.

Flash Earth offers satellite and aerial imagery of the Earth in Flash. Flash Earth is a Flash-based, zoomable map of the Earth using satellite and aerial imagery from several mapping websites

SkylineGlobe enables you to view highly detailed 3D terrains and urban environments. With SkylineGlobe you can access large geo-related databases, view live content, and share geographic information with other users.

 



 

The Microsoft Research Maps web site is one of the world's largest online databases, providing free public access to a vast data store of maps and aerial photographs of the United States. Microsoft Research Maps is designed to work with commonly available computer systems and Web browsers over slow speed communications links.

ArcGIS Explorer delivers an easy-to-use way to view and share information geographically. Download ArcGIS Explorer and start using it to unlock the power of geography and geographic information. ArcGIS Explorer is free and freely distributable, making it a great way to share your maps with others.

ArcGIS 3D Analyst allows you to effectively visualize and analyze surface data. Using ArcGIS 3D Analyst, you can view a surface from multiple viewpoints, query a surface, determine what is visible from a chosen location on a surface, create a realistic perspective image that drapes raster and vector data over a surface, and record or perform three-dimensional navigation.

 



 

The Leica TITAN Network is a dynamic online solution for sharing geospatial data, web services and location-based content in a single, secure environment. Empowered by a 3D virtual globe, the Leica TITAN Network allows users to discover, visualize, access and retrieve geospatial data into a variety of desktop, Internet and 3D virtual globe applications. This 3D environment supports users and organizations that want to make their geospatial data available for while retaining digital ownership rights.

World Wind is a virtual globe developed by NASA for use on personal computers running Microsoft Windows. The program overlays NASA satellite imagery and United States Geological Survey aerial photography on a 3D model of the Earth, Moon and Mars.
